In the extreme east of the hill of Carlentini, in the province of Siracusa in Sicily, there is the ancient feud of Roccadia. This feud dates back to 1070 when the Count Ruggero d'Altavilla gave the land to the Order of Cistercian monks who built a monastery there and worshiped an ancient picture of the Blessed Virgin, then called, "Virgin Roccadia" which until now, can be seen at the Mother Church of Carlentini (Syracuse).
The property, which has been extended to 140,000 sq.meters, is located about 4 Km from the town of Carlentini, half way between Catania and Siracusa, on a hill that looks to the sea and Etna, only 8 km from the sea and in barycentric position with respect to sites of greatest interest (Pantalica, Noto, Piazza Armerina, Siracusa, Taormina, Monte Etna, Catania).
